I envisioned her standing square-shouldered and directly meeting the viewer’s eye, with the aulos—a double flute—slung across her back like a weapon. She is not waiting to be admired; she is offering you something: a spark, a challenge. Take the inspiration and run.
This piece was made using acrylic paints and inks, with collage elements including a variety of papers—among them, actual sheet music from my high school voice lessons (Italian arias, if you’re curious… though I doubt I’ll be revisiting those anytime soon!).
